How well do you take care of your skin? Do you know what it needs to sustain that soft, supple glow?

The key to this is the right kind of moisturiser.

Quite often people with oily skin believe that they don’t need a moisturiser cause they already have enough oil as an unwanted genetic gift.  In fact, I too am guilty of having harboured this misconception at one point of time in my life. However, I would like to seize this opportunity to shatter this myth for those of you who still believe in it.

Subjecting oily skin to harsh cleansers usually strips it off even the tiniest residues of oil. In the absence of an appropriate moisturiser, this unnaturally dry skin now signals the sebaceous glands to further increase their sebum production! Thus, contrary to popular belief, this malpractice can have a paradoxical effect on our dermatological health and lead to worse acne outbreaks!

To counter this, people with oily skin are advised to use a light, non-greasy moisturiser (like Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturiser) to help maintain a healthy, dermal homeostasis and prevent excessive drying out or any other extreme reactions.

My Take On “Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturizer ” :

I have been using this moisturizer for 3 years now. I started using it back when I finally decided to do something about my puberty wrecked, acne-ridden, despair-filled countenance. Pulling up my lazy pants and tightening my belt, I embarked on a rigorous research of all the available treatment procedures and started a thorough, everyday skin-care routine armed with the products I considered (and still consider) ideal for myself.

I can conscientiously say that this moisturizer has worked marvellously for me. It is absolutely non-greasy and has a perfect matte effect on the skin. It has also treated and prevented further pimple growth in my case. I couldn’t be more satisfied and grateful.

Packaging :

It is packaged in a white tube with a blue flip-flop lid. Its semi-solid nature and light-weight make it safe to travel with.

Odour :

It has a soft, insubstantial odour to it.

Consistency :

Due to its higher water to oil ratio, this lotion (like most others) has a thinner consistency (and Viscosity) as compared to the thick, oily creams out there. It has a light texture.

How It Works :

As I have mentioned earlier, I have acne prone, combination-type skin. Hence, my T-Zone tends to be oilier than the rest of my face. I apply a thin layer of moisturiser all over my face and neck after cleansing and toning twice day. It helps my skin maintain an ideal balance of moisture and saves me from that greasy and oily after-effect that most other moisturizers have. I also adore the matte effect that this moisturizer achieves. Its salicylic acid formulation has helped me win my battle with acne.

Pros of “Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturizer” :

  • Controls acne
  • Keeps oil in check
  • Minimizes pores
  • Hydrates and Mattifies skin
  • Helps clear blemishes
  • Has a long shelf life

Cons of “Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturizer” :

  • May exacerbate the dryness of naturally dry skin. Hence it should be used wisely
  • Expensive

Rating : 4 / 5

Final Verdict :

The Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturiser is ideal for women having oily, acne prone skin with blemishes. It removes any traces of dirt and oil and keeps the skin healthy, grease-free and acne-free.
